The pink flowers on the left are the bouganvillea tree that is in the next photo. I am standing on the west side of the house looking over the jasmine-covered fence into the back yard. There is a trellis arch to the left and it's covered by jasmine and fuschia-colored bouganvillea vines. The bird bath is in the background in front of the bamboo trees. To the left of the bird bath is a wonderful tangerine tree and to the right of the bird bath is a 5-yr-old orange tree. Further back is a gardenia bush that blooms twice a year (May and September). Looking from the right (west) side of the back yard across toward the street. Beyond the light pole and the 7-year-old Laurel Oak tree is a line of (poorly maintained) shrubs. It's another 8 meters to the street from there through the side yard.
Trellis area of butterfly plants from left. Trellis area from right.
View from front yard This strange looking caterpillar, also known as the Orange Dog caterpillar, is eating away at my tangerine tree leaves--they LOVE citrus leaves. Initially he looked like a piece of bird poop, and then he began to grow. This is the first year I've noticed them, and I have 3 of them on this tree. The bulb-like protuberance coming from his mouth is what he chews with.
